NXT Lacrosse Partners with Philabundance to host “Sixes for Change” this October

NXT Lacrosse (Conshohocken, Pa) has partnered with Philadelphia’s largest hunger relief organization, Philabundance, to help fight hunger in the Delaware Valley.  NXT, who operates youth clubs locally and 50+ lacrosse tournaments nationally, will host a new charitable event this fall, “Sixes for Change”.

Philabundance’s mission is to drive hunger from our communities today and to end hunger for good. Founded in 1984 with the simple belief that no one should go hungry while healthy food goes to waste, today Philabundance serves more than 135,000 people every week.

“Teams will be raising money for an essential cause while also competing for a championship!”, said Kate Henwood, EVP of NXT Girls Lacrosse.  “Our team at NXT works hard to provide opportunities for young people in our sport; it is time we focus on the bigger picture and do more to give back to our community”, Henwood added.

Players will form their own teams of about 10-14 players to compete in 4-5 games throughout the event, held at United Sports in Downingtown, Pa on October 29th.  Sixes for Change will implement the newly adopted “Olympic Sixes” format promoted by World Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse, where teams of six compete on a short-sided field.  With music, a vendor village and on-site contests, the aim is to create a fun, festive vibe!

Teams will be encouraged to set up their own donation page and can also contribute by bringing canned food to the event!  A donation truck will be on site.
