2023 Can-Am Showcase Manney’s Men

One of the nation’s top recruiting events saw another year of tremendous talent. Athletes from graduating classes 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 put on a show at every level during our Can-A Showcase – All on display in front of an elite group of college coaches. A few players stood out among the crowd and caught the eye of our very own, Brett Manney. Here are Brett’s standout players from this year’s showcase!

Brett Manney is a 15-year professional lacrosse player, captain of the Albany Firewolves, and two-time captain for the USA National Indoor team, serving as the VP of Recruiting at NXT. He won two bronze medals with the USA National Indoor Team. He played on Delaware’s 2007 Final Four team, captained the 2008 team, made the North-South All-Star Game, and is the driving force behind Showcase Lacrosse’s nationally-known events. Manney sees players from all over the country at NXT events.

ATTACK

Blake Dlugosielski, 2025, Bedford Senior (MI), Lake Erie Lobsters

Usually at showcases it pays to be a lefty attackman. A lot of unsettled situations ending up in fast breaks and easy goals make it a nice day for most southpaws. Blake had his fair share of easy goals but also made a bunch look easy. Without a scouting report and quick hands, Dlugosielski was extremely deceptive with his fake passes and hitch shots to turn the corner and get off a sidearm release. Blake is more a scorer but also displayed some nice vison with skip passes as well. He made many plays throughout the day look easy and hence why he walked away with the coveted MVP award.

Honorable Mention:
Quinn Riley, 2025, Mason (OH), Headlines
Jake Cooper, 2025, Haslett (MI), Omnia

Midfield

Trigg Lee, (FO), 2026, Cathedral HS (IN), True IN

Trigg is an intimidating face-off prospect who captured the King of the X at the event and hopefully is the next great faceoff man to come out of the showcase. With past participants who have continued their careers at Ohio State, High Point, Richmond, and Maryland, just to name a few, Lee could be the next to follow in their footsteps at a major D1 school. Lee can win the clamp, handle the ball in transition, and do more than just face off. Yet the best asset about Trigg is his ability to scrap and outmuscle his opponents. When he does lose the clamp to get the possession back through hard work and grit. Only a 2026, the talented faceoff man from Indiana has a bright future.

Honorable Mention:
Jordan Vaillancourt,2025, Hudson (OH), UNRL
Alex Sharma, 2025, St. Xavier (OH), Headlines
Francisco Williams, 2025, Detroit Central Catholic (MI)
Porter Burd, 2026, Boulder Creek (AZ), No Excuse AZ
Ben Bowser, 2025, Mars (PA), True Pittsburgh
Zack Hood, 2024, Lakeville (MN)

Defense

Ryan Nuam, 2025, Grand Blanc Community (MI), Omnia

Standing just a hair under six feet tall, Naum plays much bigger than his size. The Grand Black Michigan native does not make many mistakes but he plays hard. He throws a hard slap check, stays on players’ hands, and is just a pest covering the ball. Nuam does not have a problem playing behind the net or above the net. I loved how comfortable he was when he got the ball in his stick and how seamlessly he was transitioning the ball. Hopefully, after this event, he will be on many schools’ radars.

Honorable Mention:
Peter Aronshteyn, 2025, Hillard Davidson (OH), Resolute
Penn Picton, 2025, Indian Hill (OH), Headlines
Wyatt Colson, 2027, Rockford (MI), Juiced Cherries
Taub Baldyga, 2025, Brophy College Prep (AZ), No Excuse AZ

Goalie

Tyler Lammers, 2024, Detroit Catholic Central (MI), UNRL

The recent UIndy commit was stellar again at the showcase. Lammers was my selection last year as a goalie and there was no reason to change my decision this year. Lammer has great hand speed stopping low to high shots. Almost every time there was a tough save up high or quick down low, Lammers was there to make a save. The righty is a very fundamental sound between the pipes, continues to excel in getting the ball out of his stick, and only gets better every time I see him play.

Honorable Mention:
Luke Williams, 2025, Hamilton Southeastern (OH), Indy
Colin Stevens, 2025, Brebeuf Jesuit Prep (IN), True Indiana
